Alain Hore, Ph. D.

Alain Hore is a software engineer who also holds a doctorate in computer science. He started computer programming more than twenty years ago and has been a lecturer at the University of Sherbrooke (Canada) and the University of Quebec at Rimouski (Canada). He has held various IT positions such as IT projects architect, web developer, and consultant. To date, he has used more than twenty programming languages for software, web, and mobile applications, and he has also written hardware code for programming FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), a type of integrated circuit.

The book “Principles of eco-friendly and modern computer code” is the result of many years of involvement in computer programming, mentoring computer science students, and working with several experienced developers.

Actually, environmental challenges or issues caught his attention, as well as the efforts of many in their fight against climate change. He thinks that everyone has the potential to become an actor of change favorable to the environmental cause. This book aims to give computer programmers the tools, knowledge, and know-how to help them implement eco-responsible principles in their day-to-day programming activities. In this way, they will be natural promoters of the environmental cause in their everyday technical or professional practices, which will be beneficial for the Earth and humanity.
